Hi, I'm Braela.
I am a Vancouver-based multimedia journalist. I report community-powered stories with a special interest in climate and the environment. In 2020, I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Master of Journalism. I also have a Bachelor of Science in environmental sciences from UBC.
Currently, I am reporting on decarbonization in the Pacific Northwest as a fellow for InvestigateWest.

Most recently, I remotely investigated juvenile justice in the United States for News21, a journalism program based out of Arizona State University. Previously, I travelled to Nepal to report on mother-tongue education in Nepal for UBC's Global Reporting Program. I also investigated acidic drinking water in Whistler, BC's coveted ski town, for the national award-recognized Tainted Water series. In 2019, I completed an internship with The Tyee, where I covered climate justice and the province's cannabis sector.
